I'm looking into getting an A22 for the 2013 year. This will be my first boat purchase so any input or info is greatly appreciated. I'm not big on all the fancy stuff. I just want a boat that will make a massive wake and be fun to ride. I got a quote today from the dealership in Bossier City Louisiana this is what they had for me....

Tandem trailer (Standard on A22 I believe)

Flip up bolster
Snap in carpet
Boat cover
Ski pylon
LED docking lights

With those options $61,900 I don't know if thats TT&L included, only thing I want that isn't there is the Trac pads I believe they are called. Now I believe the sound system they want to put is a little over kill for what I want. Again I just want a wakeboarding boat being that I will be doing only that 95% of the time. Any options I should add/remove? Also does that sound like a fair price? Thanks in advance for any input!

You can get rid of the stereo and have one put in your self, you don't need a bolster seat (my wife and I are short and don't need it) and docking lights are fairly worthless. I have the lights and they do not do much except look cool at night. If I was to order another axis I would remove these three options. The trac pads may come as a standard feature now... although I am not positive.

If you haven't ridden behind one, the boat throws a phenomenal wake and its easy to scale for all different types of riders.

The guy at the dealership said he hasn't seen them come on any boats yet. How hard do you think it is to install a sound system on my own. I'm pretty good at installing them in vehicles but never tried it in a boat lol

Never rode behind an Axis only real wakeboard boat I've rode behind was a Mastercraft X-1

Looks pretty good depending on price over there, I'd skip the audio option and add tatami matt and deck track. Can save a fair bit getting a stereo fitted after and arguably end up with better quality and (at least in Australia) all the wirings already installed. Tatami matt is awesome to keep clean mine still looks new 2 years on.

I would also drop the stereo 3 option. I would suggest (not sure if these are included but they are options on Axis' build it yourself app):
- dual battery setup
- will you be in salt water - if so the flush kit, sacrificial anodes and perhaps the galvanized trailer
- pull up cleats
- upgraded engine (generally nobody ever complains about getting too big of an engine)

I'd also consider
- stainless steel cupholders
- if you have the option test an A22 with and without the GPS option - but you can add an aftermarket product to convert from paddle wheel to GPS).
- will you be putting the tower up and down alot? If so there are options to help with that.

The A22 only comes with a tandom trailer. I have the docking lights and they're good if you're coming into a dock late at night. They don't illuminate anything when you're out on the water. As I mentioned above, I would give some serious consideration to the engine. Other stuff you can add later if you find you want it. The engine is a bit harder to change. Also I like the heater option, but we're out on the water when its in the 40s .

Ok well it seems like I'll be doing away with the sound package. Lol I wont be riding in any salt water, only fresh. I was wondering about the engine upgrade being that about 75% of the time I'll have the boat weighted down. This may sound dumb, but again this is my first boat ever lol what is a paddle wheel? The tower will most likely stay up for the most part. I'll look into the cup holders and cleats. No heaters needed here in south Louisiana lol we are still in the high 80's here

If you do away with the stereo package, you end up with cushions in the bow covering up the speaker holes. How hard is it to cut those cushions? I would be worried about that. I'm pretty sure the '13s are coming with Wetsounds setups and I'm not sure how you can beat that. You may want to simply tune it properly is all.

Of all the other options you listed, I would drop:
bolster seat
ski pylon (unless you ski)
LED docking lights
fixed racks - upgrade to the swivel racks.

The speed control is measured by a small rotating paddle under the boat. It's pretty good but it's a good idea to calibrate it with a handheld GPS. Some prefer the paddle especially on rivers as a GPS system can't take into account river water speed and instead measures your speed as if you were on dry land. I'm almost always on lakes so I'll probably upgrade to a 3rd party GPS system so get better control in turns. But I like I said with the other options, it's cheaper to add GPS later than to get it from the factory. I think someone said it was around $650 but the 3rd party option runs about $250.

in reguards to stereo pack 3, I was told it came with 6 xs-650's for the interior and a xs-12 sub powered by a syn6 amp, also a pair of rev410s powered by a syn4 amp. definitely a killer stereo system from the factory. my guess is depending on the dealers mark up from cost will help decide if it's worth it or not.

The guy was telling me the 2013 models will come with all Wetsound equipment. I do want a stereo system I just don't really need subs are anything like that. Ski pylon I can probably do away with because I pretty much only wakeboard with occasional tubing and hydrosliding. If I'm not mistaken they have a bar by the swim platform to tie ropes for tubes and hydroslides.

And Dave thanks for clearing that up for me. I appreciate all the input you guys are giving me its helping a lot. Is there anywhere we can get a list of all the prices of the options available, that way we can see what we are paying for each thing? That would help out a lot being we can see if it's actually worth it to us.
