Or buy a cover to just cover the platform and that will keep it cooler than being exposed to the sun.

Got any suggestions on where to get one of these covers at? I want one for my boat while I store it during the week.

104 degrees today and I still in and out of my A24 on the trailer with no problems. Yes it is hot it...maybe you'll need to learn how to be a little quicker getting in. I've never had to get on my knees to get on the platform with my A24 on the trailer...strange technique you have. You could always order some soft Seadek and install it yourself, it also feels better than the new stuff they've been using.

Thanks, Badgalaxie,
It had never occurred to me that this was normal and I should get used to it. (or "get use to it" as you stated.) Why do they even have a forum if issues should just be ignored?
A J West,
I am glad that you are not having a problem with your swim platform in 104 degree weather. You are correct that I have a strange technique and that I am slow in boarding but that is due to my advanced age and lack of agility. Watch out, someday you will be there! However, little kids take a minute to board as well.
This is the 4th ski/ wakeboard boat I have owned in the last 30 years, including a Malibu for 18 years. This is the first time I have had a problem like this. I was wondering if Seadek is any cooler.
Thanks for any info out there!

My 2011 A22 was much cooler on the platform but that's when they used the softer Seadek material. The soft version might still be an option through Seadek and they should already have a template for your platform, if not then I'm sure they will in the near future. The pain is removing and prepping the platform for the new pad.

Any color is going to get really hot and even white gets pretty hot. Mine will burn my feet and so will my carpet when its out In the sun. Don't know if there's a fix. I was cleaning mine today and it was 98 and I had to spray water on it.

thanks for the suggestions.
I think we will hose it down at the cabin before we take it
to the boat ramp for launching.
Other than this problem, we love the new boat.

They must have changed the color...my 2010 never gets even noticeably hot. I launch my SUP off the swim deck while its in the hoist and in the sun from 10am to 3pm.....never had a heat problem in south west VA. YMMV

Larry,
Are you talking about the transom pad or the interior as a whole...?
We keep our boat in storage and pull it out and put it straight into the water. During that time, (about 5 minutes) the seats (light Gray) get extremely hot. They get so hot that those boarding from the front (barefooted of course) have to step on a towel. This has been the case with any boat we have owned since the temps here in Alabama during the summer get pretty hot. I will have to say that the transom pad also gets pretty hot as well.(especially when its not wet). You also mentioned the step down pad between the cup holders.... Ours gets hot here in Alabama because the temps are usually 90-100+ As I said earlier, We deal with it cause its hot and have gotten use to it. Still not sure how you are boarding the boat though.... If you board when its in the water the transom should be wet. Not trying to give you a "Psychiatric Diagnosis" but trying to help out an Axis owner.

Thank you for your help. I was just talking about the rubber pad on the swim platform and the rubber pad of the same material where you would sit to put on your wakeboard, in the rear. I was just joking about the diagnosis, as the first response started with "you're crazy." I climb into the boat from the swim platform (via a fold down ladder) so I can start the engine and back off the trailer, after Larry backs the boat and trailer down the ramp. We are grandparent age boat owners. Our previous Malibu was no problem because I could climb over the side from the trailer fenders. The new Axis is so wide that it cantilevers out over the fenders, making it impossible for this old lady to climb over the side. Of course parts of any boat get hot in the sun. It just seemed to me that this rubber product on the swim platform gets inordinately hot. We could launch with my holding a bow line from the dock, but we do not want to be "dock huggers" as our ramp is a single ramp and "dock huggers" get in the way of progress. So, Bama Axis, thanks again for your help. We will just have to wet everything down and hope those grandkids grow up soon, so they can take over the launching!
