I use a #13 fluke anchor from overtone ($80 kit) it works great in sand but not sure about anything else, I looked at the box anchors but worried about people getting hurt stepping on it ( spikes sticking up)where we hang out.

You can use a small anchor buoy to mark your anchor to prevent that

Box anchor all the way. Last summer we were on the lake with about 5 other boats when a storm blow in fast. We had shelter on shore so we all throw anchors and secured the boats best we could and took shelter. After couple minutes of wind and rain 4 guys were running out to get there boats that had broke loose 3 of the tied off to my boat and box another held my boat plus 3 others in 50 plus wind gust for another 5 to 10 minutes and anchor did not budge. In fact it just dug into the lake bed better. And you never have to set the anchor just throw it out and tie to the boat. That's it.

Slide anchor is another name used because the parent company is/was Slide Industries.
