I am to the point that every boat, loaded with every different weight will be different. There are a lot of experience of on this site. I am biased to some names that I don't know personally, but trust (dezul, AJ, shawndoggy, etc.. But It's completely up to your preference (tall or long) and ride behind every boat possible before you decide. Just like surfboards. The real proof is in the demo and what YOU like best. I have a '16 t23 and love it. I've ridden behind a '15 23lsv, '15 G23, '16 Moomba, etc. It's all about how they are set up, dialed in, people in the boat, and your board. I really don't think there is a wrong answer, as long as you have tried it out. It's what you like the most...

The A22 wave continues to impress me every time we surf. Here's a GoPro shot from the other day.

750's in the rear plus tanks and wedge
Center tank full
Front bow bag filled under seats
400 bag in cabin towards surf side
400 bag on top of bow seats

I've found that the key is the extra bags (especially with a light crew) and slightly listing the boat towards the surf side. It really lengthens the wave and cleans it up. Speed is usually 10.6

No problem, and sorry for the slight thread hijack dezul. I just think it's important to point out that comparing other boats is especially hard when you're anal about weight placement/dialing in your boat, then you surf another boat that may not be setup to your riding style. Everyone's version of "dialed in" can be different like bwirk said.

totally agree. And in 2016, the number of boats that surf poorly is really small. All manufacturers have made great strides in the last five years. Shoot, as shown above even the A22 puts out a mackin wave now!

What year is your A22? Surfgate or non surfgate? Also what Prop?

I am 2013 A22 no surfgated boat with the new Delta (suction cup deal) 750's in rear lockers 950 arrow under front seats and stock tanks full....stock prop......by the pics my wave seems taller and shorter and your seems close to my height buy way longer. Counld it be the extra 800 lbs that your carrying or a combo of that and the prop and surfgate set-up?

'15 A22 w/ surfgate and currently running the ACME 1235. Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Delta product. My best advice is to keep testing and make small tweaks until you find the right combo for you.

I'm going back out on my buddy's X30 this week and going to bring along some extra bags. It has the 7.4L upgrade and it's a beast. I'll try to get some pictures of the surf wave.

Meant to report back on the X30 surf wave the last time I went out on it. Unfortunately I forgot to get my extra ballast bags out of the Axis so couldn't test with those, but.. Some tweaks were made to the ballast timers/Gen 2 and the wave was so much better. The push was really good and the pocket was a lot longer than the last time I rode it. It had plenty of push towards the top of the lip, where as on my A22 it seems like there's more push towards the trough.

I wouldn't want to gas it up on a regular basis, but the 7.4L motor is just ridiculous. Definitely the first wake boat I've been on that cruises across the lake at 45mph like it's nothing.
