Who here boats in Havasu?

The river has shallow areas rather than things that stick up, so you can see the shallows well before you enter them - if you wear polarized sunglasses.

From this string of posts, I now know that many other Axis owners operate in my neighborhood. But I think I am still the only one who uses a KIA as a tow vehicle...

That's amazing you can get a Kia to tow your boat. I thought I would struggle with my 06 tundra with the A24.

I use the KIA Sorrento. 7 passengers and 290 HP V6. All creature comforts and it gets almost 30 MPG driving from LA to Parker at 85 mph. Plenty of poop to get the boat moving at surface-street speeds. I never even put the Bimini down, so I do not tow fast with it. Never more than 55 ish. Going up the hill from Parker to the springs is no problem at all. I would not ever tow far for fear of killing the car. Last one was a 2013 and I traded it for a 2016 after 83,000 with only having to replace the oil and tires. Did not even use a set of brake pads (I do mostly drive freeway).

The car tows from garage (Rio Vista Storage in Parker) to the gas station and to the ramp.

The last one was front wheel drive and did nto weigh enough to have traction to pull boat without a lot of careful feathering of the throttle. New one is all wheel drive so I expect it to do better. As I said it had plenty of poop, but no traction. The towing capacity of the All Wheel Drive version is 5,000 pounds, up from 3.500 pounds for the frong wheel drive.

When I tow the boat around Parker, people do stop, point, and laugh.

I get the same looks when I'm passing diesels or at the ramp with my 4.7 tundra. Haha

See the picture above of my red A22. The kids and their husbands will not arrive until Friday night so I might not even put the boat in on Friday. We will be there until Wednesday. Mostly we will be near bluewater in the deeper water when we are surfing. Other stuff like wakeboarding and tubing will take us anywhere from Bluewater to Castle Rock Shores. Depending on crowds, we may also spend some mornings on lower Havasu near Parker dam.
