I've been looking at a nicely optioned '15 T22 and want opinions/thoughts from everyone who has or used one. I haven't been on a sport boat in about 20 years and with an MSRP of $75k it's a hard pill to swallow. Any reason not to buy new? Better to find a used one? Only good part is I'll be putting half down if I buy new (more or all on used).

Buy a used/new '14 T22 fully loaded for almost 20k cheaper than msrp on a new '15. If you are looking to spend that kind of money then get an A24 or T23 with a big engine.

What he said. I've seen 2014 A24's for 65K ... that's an easy pill so swallow.

I've definitely considered used boats and have seen a few used Malibus but the only used Axis I've seen is an A22 that looked beat to hell.

Are there any difference in performance between the T and A series boats? I'm not a big fan of the A series from a looks perspective. I've also looked at the T23 as well but the price difference for the extra foot isn't too appealing. It'll be me, my GF and my two boys on the boat so the extra room and motor isn't really needed (or is it) ??? Please forgive me if these questions seem stupid, as I've said I'm new to boating.

Where are you located at? Do you plan to surf more than wakeboard? For surfing, the big motors aren't needed but it will need to have an aggressive prop on it. The aggressive props don't let you go fast if you are out cruising with the family. Top speed is usually 30mph. Explain your needs and we can steer you in the right direction.

You need to do more research because there are quite a few used Axis boats in great shape out there if you look hard enough. Also the difference between the T22 and T23 is almost 2ft...not a foot as you are saying, just look at the specs and not the "T23" name. The T23 could've easily been named T24. Whatever retail price you are seeing for a 2015 T22 you should be able to knockoff 13-15% for a starting number.

I would visit your local Malibu/Axis dealer when they have a demo day. Take out a T and A series boat and see what you like. You might like the open A series bow or you might not. You might like the extra space inside the T23. If you are not worried about wakeboarding, surfing or anything behind the boat then you might not be concerned with engine size, prop, ballast etc now but at some point you will start using the boat for watersports and then all the engine, prop and ballast will be a game changer.

How old are the kids right now and do they do anything watersports related?
