Was on boat trader.com today while passing some time.. Did a 500 mile search distance and came up with about three dozen new Axis boats. All in California, Idaho, and Nevada. Every T23 and A24 I saw all had the 350 engine. This was with the exception of an A24 Vandal and an A24 Liquid Force, which both had the 450. Question.. I know we've talked about this several times, that with the right prop, the 350 and 409 don't have much difference.. It just seems that a 23 or 24 foot boat would need a minimum of 400 hp especially when ballasted up and people on board. Is there a reason other than cost that the dealers are ordering these bigger, heavier boats with the 350 motor? Maybe the 2015 gearing is better on the smaller boats?
You ask why dealers order with the 350? Simple...cost and that's all 90-95% of Axis owners need with the new gear ratio. Most people surf nowadays and only use up to about 3150lbs of ballast. There are a few of us that will use 5000lbs or more in ballast. The 350 is plenty motor for 2015 Axis boats to include A24 and the T23. If you want or "need" the 410 or 450 then usually the person is patient enough to order that boat.
