A few days ago I left my 2010 A22 outside and it just happened to thunderstorm and drop buckets of water. FYI, that Axis boat covers does nothing but keep out bird s*it.

I noticed today that the discoloration is very noticeable on the front back cushion in the pickle fork and on both edges of the starboard and port engine covers. The discoloration is pink. I believe some sort of color, red, soaked through the boat cover and stained the vinyl. I thought maybe it was the red colored Axis logo on the boat cover.

A few weeks ago I had some upholstery work done to the boat cover. I had the zippers replaced with industrial velcro about 5" wide around the tower and some extra 3" plastic buckles with straps to secure the cover more when in storage and towing. I think the upholstery shop got the cover very dirty with fine red powder of some sort. Upon seeing the pinkly stained seats I promptly removed the cover and shoved it into the washing machine. I washed it 3 times and by the third time the water was clear. The first 2 times the water was a dark red color.

I scrubbed the port and starboard engine covers with simple green, hydrogen peroxide, and babes upholstery cleaner. Didn't do a darn thing at the time. I just went outside to to take picture to accompany my post and the pink discoloration is nearly gone on the engine covers. Can't hardly tell in the photos (see last photo). Very weird. Maybe the daylight will reveal more. I didn't scrub the front cushion yet but it does look slightly better than it did.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with the Axis or any other boat cover discoloring the vinyl? Any tips to remove these stains?

I need to think about ordering some new skins. Are there any 3rd market vendors that make OEM replacements or is the Axis stealership the only place?

Let them sit out in the sun. The discolouration will probably go away.

Similar situation with the Axis cover. It lets so much water in through the tower holes its insane. A towel was left on a seat, turned the white vinyl blue 2 weeks ago. I am trying to get it in the sun, but I live in michigan and we haven't had any sun in a while. The little bit it has had does seem to be helping. I want to get it a good 24 hours of sun bleaching before I determine another course of action.

Let the sun dry it out and the seat should turn back to normal. Cory at Evolution Covers are the best.

For all stains I use this below. I up have an upholstery brush attachment for my DA polisher that does wonders, but might be worth picking you up some. I then use a vinyl protectant/sealer after it is cleaned.

What year is your boat? My buddy had the pink staining on his 2013 MXZ. It was determined to be a pink mold and skins were replaced under warranty. If you google around you can see lots of talk about it. I know of two others on our lake that also had this problem last summer. It will go away with enough sun but it will come back when the conditions are right (cover put on and interior of boat is moist). I don't think you can get rid of it. I was under the impression they made a change in the upholstry manufacturing/manufacturer to solve this problem.

Its normal when you store your boat with the cover on, in the sun. Every boat I've had had it happen: Tige, Centurion, Axis. Do you have the black cover?

Just let it sit in the sun to dry out and it will be gone. To prevent it, throw towels down and those noodle floaty things, where ever the cover touches the vinyl. Do not try and clean it off, it won't work. No sense in getting it warrantied.

Yes, I do have the black cover. Didn't realize this was a such a popular thing. Sure makes makes me feel just a little bit better.



2010 A22. Thanks for the advice. I have already seen it go away with heat and sun throughout the day.

His pictures do not look like microbial pinking.

Great stuff. I use a lot of their products on the boat and my cars. In fact, I splurged and got there flex polisher last year and removed all the surface scratches from the boat. I had to wet sand just one other scratch. Came out perfect.
