So I noticed my spare leaning yesterday and looked behind at the mount and found the welds loose at the trailer. There are no signs of any other damage from an impact and not sure if even an impact could happen at that part of the trailer without damaging something else. Could it just be bad welds?ImageImageImage

the break on the side of the plate to the frame is from low heat and a bad weld in general the break around the square mounting tube is from the plate being too thin and cant support the weight, ran out and looked at my boatmate trailer and the plate on mine is 1/4 where yours looks to be 1/8 or thinner.

Wow. This is on a Malibu trailer right?

I'm taking the boat out today so I'll have to check mine out but I have a Boatmate trailer.

That's scary shit! Thing could become deadly if it came off on the highway.

Yes Malibu Trailer. Hopefully they fix it under warranty. I took the spare off to reduce the weight for now.

That's concerning. I don't know much about welding but I would hope the guy that welded that spot did not weld the rest of the trailer.

I would have thought to high of heat? Looks to me the weld is fine but the backplate got weak from to much heat? I'm no pro but I have welded a thing or two in my day and never had a weld fail.

That should be warranty for sure..

Definitely warranty, your boat is less than a year old right? I just think about the down time. Take boat to dealer, dealer hoists boat off trailer, trailer is sent for repair (probably local somewhere), repair made, send trailer to paint shop and sit, repaint trailer to "hopefully" blend and match, hope you get it all done by end of season.
