I have a 2012 A22 and noticed that my swim platform seemed a lot more 'loosy goosy' than usual. I took a look yesterday and it seems that the bottom of the square bracket that gets attached to the boat is sheered and bending on BOTH sides at the exact same spot.

Anyone have this issue? Not sure if its caused by my kids jumping on and off but it just seems odd. I am assuming I can just take it to a metal worker and have it welded...

I had the family and friends out yesterday and my 6 yr old mentioned my platform was "wiggy" on one side but not the other. After examining it with a mask I found the tubular to flat weld (the one the is parallel to the transom when attached) had broken. I pulled the platform off and then removed the bracket.

My question is what material is this bracket made of? Feels too light to be steel, but I don't have a tonne of experience with these things?

I'm hoping to just take it to a local welder and then recoat it as required.

Thoughts!!

Cheers

Really. I was thinking it would be $50-100! How much do u think a new one would cost?

I had a similar crack on mine.

I had it welded at a local shop for $30 and just put a random sealant on it. I did purchase a new one for backup from Bakes. That was $132 US. Below are the part numbers for the bracket and other components.

4722280 Bracket, Removable, Swimstep, Stainless, Axis, '09
4724213 Bracket, Swimstep Transom Plate, Stainless, Axis, '09
4726114 Backing Plate, Swimstep Transom Bracket, Stainless, Axis, '09
4790120 Pin, Swimstep, Stainless, Axis, '09
