Anybody use the plug lights? Saw the Diablo ones and look like a good alternative to drilling holes into boat. Do they fit with the wedge in place?

I bought the typhoon light and have installed it but haven't got the boat in the water yet this year. It does clear the wedge up and down and seems bright. For $50 and the ease of install I think I'll be happy. Doubt I'll use it much which is why I didn't want to spend hundreds.

Do you have a link to the typhoon light you're talking about? I didn't order underwater lights but I might be interested in an inexpensive alternative.

If you have extremely clear water the plug lights do fairly good job. However, if you're on a very stained or even muddy lake there's no substitute for quality fixed LED's like Abyss, Ocean, or other reputable brand just to keep in mind. A lot of boaters do not realize water clarity is a huge factor.

I could not belive how much the water affected my lifeforms. On a very clean lake in eastern wa they would light up 20 ft out but on the river that is pretty dirty it is easily 1/2 that.

I just got mine from Diablo, any suggestions on good spot to get power. I was going to tap it into my in boat LED lights as easily accessible in the rear.. Or would that not be a good idea. I would assume most times I have my in boat lights on I would have the rear drain light on.

My opinion...not a good idea at all unless you want to attract a lot of bugs into your boat. The interior lights attract bugs quickly (especially white but light blue does attract as well) transom lights do not attract. I don't ever turn on my interior lights unless I'm looking for something but I live in the south where it's a bit "buggy" in the warmer weather.

In the Midwest it's a big buggy as well so I agree might not be the best idea to tie them into the interior lights as mine are white as well. Any good suggestions on where anyone was wired the plug light into?

I have the diablo plug light and in the crystal clear water of the Colorado river, it works well. I tied it to an unused accessory switch. But them we killed the light this winter by the kids leaving it ON while out of the water. The heat is so much that it fried it. In fairness, they warned about this in the instructions. I liked it because I did not have to put any holes in the boat. But now i am thinking I shoudl have used different one lighting that will not die if turned on while on the trailer.
