Curious why you are interested in the GPS speed control. I had PerfectPass Stargazer on my last boat and while at the time I really liked it, I actually prefer the simpler stock system on my A20. It took a while each time I started the boat for the GPS unit to find the satellites, and it just simply didn't work unless it could get a lock (which wasn't 100% reliable depending on how sheltered the lake was). The rider profiles were cool but not cool enough, it takes only a few seconds to set the speed anyway.
It sounds like you had an issue with your gps on your perfect pass system on your last boat. I used a Nautic Logic GPS unit connected to my perfect pass and it worked great. It held speed a lot better than the paddle wheel. I haven't looked into it on the Axis but I know it would work good on it too. The Axis speed controller typically can very +/- .5 while wakeboarding. With the GPS unit, you can get it a little more steady so the surges are as noticeable.
