Is the GPS worth the extra cost?

Any thoughts on the pros and cons to paddlewheel vs gps?

It depends. Do you ride on a lake or a river with a current? The gps is more accurate on lakes. For most, the paddlewheel is fine but the gps is nice to have. What is the price difference?

I'm not sure on cost. I left a message with my dealer to see the price difference.
BTW, I ride in lakes only.

I am a huge fan of GPS. On the 2015 boats with zero off GPS, it is the most precise speed control I've ever used. Even with several thousands of ballast there is no overshoot and it holds within .2 mph. To top it off, there is a switch under the dash that allows you to switch from the GPS to the paddle wheel that is still installed if you decide to head out on the river. Best of both worlds if you ask me!!!

I just got a quote to add the GPS puck to my A20. $700 total. $400 parts $300 labor. I declined.

I'm going to ask a silly question, wouldn't a gps be better on a river since you have to current to deal with. I would think the paddle wheel would mess up on speed if there was a current to deal with. I'm sure I'm completely wrong, but I figured I'd ask.

For wake to form correctly or for the board to be moving fast enough to plane and keep you fro sinking, what matters is your speed compared to the water. So in a river, even when you are "stopped", the gps will still see you moving at the speed of the current, say 2 mph. When you go up stream, it will think you are moving slower so will therefore pull you faster to make up the difference. If you have your speed set for 23, it will actually pull you 25 mph because it doesn't know about the current. Then if you go downstream, it will pull you too slow at 21. The paddle wheel does not have this problem since all it ever does is measure the speed of the water you are moving through. The key to remember is that it's your speed compared to the water that matters, not speed compared to land.

I wonder if the Zero-Off can be retrofitted on to previous Axis. As in is there any issues with the non-optioned Zero-Off tachs or displays on 2014 or older models that would not allow its use...or if it's a stand alone unit. I'd like to upgrade

I emailed Nautic Logic about their gps puck to see if it would fit my 2014. They asked me if it looks like the 2013 then it will. Now I need to investigate and find out where the paddlewheel connects up to the dash. I had one of the gps pucks on my last boat and it worked great.
