Just purchased 2011 A22 and am new at this. I am looking for advise on the way to get the best surf wave from this boat. I have pnp but have not purchased the front ballast upgrade, I also have a set of wicked wake makers that install on the swim platform. 750lb rear ballast and hard ballast in center. Wave is washed and does not have a lot of push. ANY advise would be so appreciated.

the front ballast..

If you don't have the front down you are not going to get the best surf wake you can get. I would start with adding the front ballast and go from there.

We have the sumo arrow bags at boardstop and that will help you.

Load all the bags and the front bag. Use your wicked wake and then see how you like the wake.

I would say it is front ballast as well. I have a 2012 A20 and can get a pretty good surf wave. I use the ronix wake shaper with stock ballast plus 450's in the back, 800 arrow sack for the front, and an additional 750 on the walk through.

For regular side we use the wedge and for goofy side we do not. New to the forum and tried attaching a picture of the goofy wave.

Your 2011 has the sucky 1st generation platform, his 2012 A20 has the 2nd generation platform which is better. Front ballast sack will help. Those aftermarket wake shapers help quite a bit, however, the pre-surfgate platforms are mounted very low on the transom and somewhat knock the wave down just a little bit, especially your 2011 with the platform with more square shaped corners. Once you get a bow sack try to get a few friends to sit on the sunpad and see if that improves the wave. If it does then swap out your 750's to 900's or 1100's. My buddy had 1100's in his 2012 A22 and it surfed pretty good listed heavy but then again it had the better platform. What speed are you surfing? I'm curious if those strap on surfgates that go on the platform aren't producing as good of a wave as those "suck-gates" that are mounted slightly more forward on the side of the hull instead of the platform. Seems like the "suck-gate" would have more of a delayed convergence which might produce a better wave. Just a thought

I have a 2012 A22 with a DIY platform mount surf gate. Our best wave when it's just me and my wife out is all tanks full. Front arrow bag and rear locker 750's full. 400# bag on the surf side seats And a 325# bag on the bow seats.
