I haven't found a time that it would prevent hitting or rubbing....

Spoke with Malibu and they sent me to call Apex (company who manufactures the bimini)....haven't received a call back yet.

It's almost funny how nobody knows....I wonder if some guy in the factory has been throwing them on for two years just to confuse people. If that's the case he earned my respect!

I had a thought....do boards in the board racks rest near this spot? Im going to put a board in my rack when I get home and see if it lines up.

Got an initial call back from Apex today. The folks around there had no idea what it might be for based in the design...so they have inquired to the gays who actually build them and they told me to expect an email over the next couple of days.

The "gays" replied back to all Axis owners, so check your email… basically they said "velcro is FABulous!!!!" that you can never get enough velcro, that "velcro is the new black".

j/k….

still waiting to hear what the "gays" at Apex have to say….

^^In a flashback of immaturity, that made me laugh really hard. Especially the "velcro is FABulous" part

Velcro was originally put on there for an idea that never panned out with Axis. Vendor is still putting them on there for some reason. From a pretty reliable source.

They are still putting it on because no one had the heart to tell old Joe (whose only job is to put the velcro on) that he has been putting on useless velcro on for years.

They call him Velcro Joe. LMAO.
Anxious to hear what Apex has to say.

Apex officially said

"Malibu requested this be added to prevent the poles from hitting each other"

I love that they really don't know so they just made up an answer....I cannot find a time while opening or closing the bimini where this Velcro does anything at all. Coming off!
