yeah, still, if you want to stay under 70k, it isn't happening with SP3 and Z5.

Would be nice to see people actually listen to someone's needs and make common sense suggestions rather than filling this thread with a list of EVERY SINGLE option short of the 450/550 engine.

Hello All,
Well I've decided on buying the new 2015 Axis A22 but Im a first time buyer who doesn't want to be taken advantage of at the dealer. I know there are several options which can be added on to the boat for a higher cost.

My question is: What options are a must to have, which are nice to have and what options aren't needed.

I will be wake boarding and wake surfing.

Also Im not looking to spend more than 70k hopefully.

Any help and wisdom you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!!

I know the 2015 T22's went up about 3K so not sure what the A22 is selling for this year. Like most have said, a lot depends on market pricing in your area and your dealer relationship. Just let your dealer price it out and change what you want.

These options in my area will get you under 70K and be nicely equipped:
Surfgate
Wedge
Metal Flake
Dual Battery
Hi Alt Prop (but check what others say about your area, which prop works for the new 2015 motor)
2pr cleats
Underwater lights (but buy aftermarket, cheaper and you can get differrent colors)
Tatami mat
Bimini/Cover
SP3 (buy your own Blue Tooth)
Depth Finder
PnP Ballast
Quick Release Tower Knobs
Swivel Racks
Ski Pylon
Bolster seat
Deck trac
Docking Lights
Underseat Lights (could probably get your own here as well)

Hmmm, in my opinion, Axis is still a simple boat as far as options goes and about 80%-90% of us choose the same stuff. There's motor options (almost everyone chooses the base motor), stereo options (pretty evenly divided amongst the 3 options), bimini options (although 90-95% ordered with standard bimin), trailer options (most go with standard tandem), racks (swivel or standard are only a $200-$300 difference), tower color (not much in pricing for a different color), flooring options (they are all similarly priced and you need flooring), and gel coat options. Surfgate...duh...who doesn't want it (ok, maybe a couple people but try reselling your boat without it). Props...well you're going to need one so it books down to your ballast, your crew size, your motor, and your elevation. The rest is pretty much a given and cheap to add-on. Stuff like cleats, cup holders, docking lights (one of the best and cheapest options in my opinion...a must), pylon, heater, deck-trac, etc. It's not like we have all the options like LSV's, G23, MC, or Tige Z3. We're not talking about optional rear facing video cameras, make-up mirror (Tige has that), power towers, trash can, Carbon fiber, tower LEDs, triple axle trailers, etc.

Agree ^

the buyer didn't state his basic needs, he asked what we must have, want to have, and not needed

seems like anyone who works for (or represents a dealer in any way) tries to strip down boats to the bare essentials to compete with what more savy buyers post they've paid for a fully loaded boat.

Its very common (especially on this forum) for someone to post their new boat pictures and say they basically got a FULLY LOADED boat and the dealer gave them a screaming deal. Then you look at the pictures and their is no heater, no swivel racks, no flake gelcoat, no tricked out trailer, no SP2 or SP3, no deck trak, no docking lights, etc, etc. ( I wont comment on engines because that's a different game all together) basically stripped down boats and they paid the same price others got a truly fully loaded boat for.

We're optioning out a T23. Already put the deposit down but need to get the rest ordered for this week. Here's what we think we're doing:

410 Engine (we're at altitude 2000-7000 feet). Was going to get the 450 but was impressed with the 410 at 7000 feet with 5 in the boat and 750s + standard ballast plus wedge. When the dealer is talking you out of the 450, I guess I really don't need it.
High altitude prop
Plug and play
Wedge and Surfgate
Standard Bimini
No flake (wife hates it)
Bolster seat
Chillax seats
SP2
Heater
Swivel racks x 2
Regular cruise control (no rivers for us)
The cheaper of the two tower mounted mirrors
Pullover cover plus a snap bow cover
Dual batteries with switch
2nd Fin
2nd Color (didn't want white due to reddish dirty water)
Probably bluetooth
6 popup cleats
Upgraded wheels on the trailer with spare tire, but not tricked out.
Fusion mat
Ski Pylon
Depth Finder

Still debating underwater, interior, and docking lights. Hard to justify when I can buy a 200 yard 12 volt spotlight or two for $40.

Not going to get the metal cupholders, Zero Off, Z5, SP3, metal flake, tricked out trailer
I guess that's pretty loaded, but I'm a lot closer to $80K than $70K- plus the boat is bigger. I'll be following this thread very closely this week so thanks to all who are contributing.

I keep reading things about gearing changes for 2015. Does the 410 engine now have the same gearing as the 350 and 450?

The 410 for 2015 has taller gears than the 350 and 450. Your boat will already have interior lights, they are standard. SS cup holders make the boat look more refined, the black plastic cup holders cheapens the interior look IMO. Congrats on the T23 it's going to be a great boat. I'd love to order one but I really need to stop buying a new boat every 18-24 months and I really like my current boat.

So it's the same gearing as for 2014 then. Somewhere I had read it changed for 2015. As I recall from the torque curves the torque is about the same as the 350 on the low end, but I should have more high end speed with the 410.

My 410 is an Indmar...isn't the 2015 410 by PCM? If so, it's different and I'd love the PCM version. I believe, but correct me if I'm wrong please, the 350 and 450 have shorter gears than the 410 and the 350 and 450 gears are the same. I haven't totally kept up with the gear ratio between 2014 and 2015. If your 410 is PCM then it's much better on fuel than my Indmar 410. However, you are correct that the 410 has a higher RPM range and will make more power higher up in the RPM range compared to the 350 and since you'll be at elevation you did the right thing

I'll try to figure out if its PCM or Indmar. Why do you say the taller gear ratio is better at altitude?
