Anchor

What is everyone's best recommendation for purchasing a new anchor for the boat? Would love to purchase a medium sized box anchor but don't know if I want to shell out the $160.

Are they worth it over say a $30-$50 anchor?

Box is the way to go if you have a current.

I bought a $20 coated anchor from overtons, 18lbs I think, and it works fine.

box is definitely THEE anchor to go with. I have an A20 and went with the small and works perfect. Had the conventional galvanized anchor prior and wasn't worth the money. Got my box off Ebay. It's not shiney and pretty but does what it is supposed to do.

I use the small box anchor upwind and the baby box downwind to keep the boat from swaying when anchored. In light winds around 10mph, one small box anchor can hold two wake boats. I've held 3 boats with no issues in shallow water by our beach area.

Box anchor is it, everyone I meet up with fights their anchors all day and then they see me throw mine once and never touch it now they all have box anchors as well

I have a LARGE box that I use to hold my boat off the beach. Bow connected to box and stern tied to a sand spike. I have had 70 MPH winds do their best and the boat was safe and steady. All other folks on the beach powered up and either tried to pull their boats or remained under power for a few hours in the middle of the lake in teh middle of the night. I also had to stay awake to make sure I could fend off any neighbors' boats that might drift into mine. After the wind storem passed all boats with box anchors were standing around congratulating ourselves.

I keep a medium in the boat, It folds very small and can be used on a moment's notice. Much better than any other anchor I have ever used on my ski boats or ocean boats.
