I recently bought a new 2016 Axis A20. I've launched it 3 times and noticed each time that's it's virtually impossible to winch the boat such that the bow eye is all the way up to the roller (I spent about 40 minutes this afternoon backing to various different depths as well so I don't think that's it at all). I looked under the boat and noticed that when the boat is on the trailer, there's a cup shaped brass water inlet/strainer that hangs down and is dragging on the bunks. No wonder it's so hard to get the boat onto the trailer.

I'm thinking something isn't right here; either they cut the holes in the wrong spot or the trailer bunk is positioned incorrectly. Will someone take a look under their A20 and snap a photo and see if it's similar?

My 2016 A20 is the same but I've never had a problem getting it on the trailer and secure to the bow roller.

That's a new one, something definitely seems off on that issue. Never had any of my boats ever come close to that. Hopefully other A20 guys of the same year can chime in. It's pics and info like this that Axis designers need to see and correct.

Thanks for the photo, Steve. How many times have you launched/retrieved your boat? Next time you have it off the trailer will you look for wear on the corner of that rear bunk? I can't imagine it's good for the bunk carpet. When the dealer pulled the boat out of the water after our demo the bow eye was a good 4-5 inches away from the roller. It was obviously not right but he said it was fine. The boat was super bouncy and I've never let it get like that again. Maybe I'll get some of that spray and put it on the front bunks and see if it helps.

Hm, another thought. Is this the pickup for the cooling system? If so, how could one hook up a fake-a-lake or similar to start the boat on the trailer? It's really odd to me that they have fittings right on the bunks. I've owned a couple of tow boats before this (mastercraft prostar 190, sanger v210) and neither had anything anywhere close to the bunks.

I will check it out tomorrow and report back, I have had the boat on and off the trailer about 8 times with zero issues.

Is the boat on an Axis made trailer? Some boat dealers will not purchase Axis trailers and have another company make trailers for them. If it is not an Axis made trailer then I would talk with the dealer to find out who made the trailer and if they actually have the correct setup for your boat.

If the trailer is actually a Axis trailer did it somehow get switched? Doing demo days and boat shows can sometimes end up getting trailers switched.

I didn't get a pic but you can see an indentation where the raw water pickup sits on the edge of the bunk. I couldn't feel any of the wood compromised. The carpet is pretty thick and I don't think it's hitting the wood. I don't have any scrape/drag marks either but my ramp may be steeper.

It is a malibu built trailer.

Yeah mine's a malibu as well. It doesn't seem right though.
