Just finished my 5 hr break in recommended from dealer. Now how long till I load this thing up and launch and surf? Ran it slow then get up to plane quickly and back off down to 3000-3500 and do circles around lake during 5 hr.

Found the book saying 25 hrs. But doesn't say about towing and loading ballast. reading around people have different opinions. Just really itching to get behind the boat.

Everyone seems to do it differently. I think I did a 20 hour break in, as I thought that was the recommendation from Axis. Others argue that dealers load down boats for demos. There is no concrete answer.

Yea I pretty much did 5 hours of no load and used it like I normally would..

What? Dealers loading down boats for demos with no hours on them??

I think everyone has a take on break in. I would not work a boat real hard for the first 15 hours but that is my personal preference.

If a dealer does load a boat they normally are not running the boat all afternoon pulling riders etc. they might load the boat and then show the wake and then drain it all.

Nothing like the smell of new paint heating up on your new boat motor..

+1. I think many follow the break in because it is their boat and their money. That's why I did it. I rode with full factory ballast and the wedge during my test drive/ride. I have no idea what the dealer did with the other ~6 hours on the boat. Either way, I went on the side of caution.

I think we did 10 hours before we did any ballast etc.

Well I can't imagine actually doing what the book says. Max rpm for a min then drop off. I don't think I'll ever hit max rpm. I've cracked a head in my stick Tacoma doing that.

I took it fairly easy for the first 20 hours, but I did run it with lots of extra weight and we did surf in that time period. I tried to vary the engine speed a lot. I frequently did the WOT for one minute then down thing. I'm at 130 hours now and it seems like it's all good.

Follow the book to the "T", if anything for warranty purposes alone... you do not want to have to argue against the engine computer log when you start having engine problems. Big brother see's all....
