They are not waterproof...they are water resistant, there's a big difference. Unless you cover them with a cover that does not allow water to penetrate then eventually they will show wear if left to the elements. That's why I couldn't sleep at night if my boat was outside. Even at my dealer I schedule service, drop off, then pickup 3-4hrs later. My boat won't stay overnight. As far as anti-theft you can add all the specialty bolts that need special tools but if the would-be thief can't remove the speakers, they will more than likely vandalize them and/or your vinyl out of frustration.
