Probably not... I would jettison Malibu immediately; thus not bother posting. I will tell you my dealer is very liberal (may be one of the best in the country) and the svc mgr flat out warned me and included a few examples, so I figured I better listen (for once...lol). I do know of an outboard merc 250 that went down and they pulled the ecm data and told the guy he was out of luck (over rev), but that's a different dealership.

Bought three boats from them and he has told me the same thing three times... I will google it and see if there is any documented data.
