Hi everyone Great forum.i bought my 2015 axis over the winter and I finally got it out today And tried surfing.i can't do rope less yet. What a awesome time out for the first time. I had one question.should I always fill both sides of my ballast tanks? I'm happy with the wake size so far. Thanks bill

Yes. The surfgate takes care of putting the wake where you want it. Depending on passenger loading, I will sometimes take a little out of the "non-surf side" to clean the wake slightly, similar to what we do in wakeboarding. But all tanks are pretty full.

Looking good.. no rope will come in time (usually pretty fast for most) I always add extra weight on the surf side as I can feel the extra push I get from it. My advise is set your rope as long as possible and just try and keep slack in it as much as possible so you don't keep going down.

Congrats on the new boat! I think you might want to play with your settings some. That wave doesn't look like it has much going on with it. How much ballast are you running and at what speed are you going in that picture? Also the wedge is a big help for shaping if you are not already using it.

i am making a lot of judgments just based on your pictures, but in both you look like you are pretty back foot heavy. you need more weight on your front foot when surfing. That should help with the ropeless part.

Thank you everyone for the help.im still trying to learn and fiqure out the boat and surfing. I have the wedge down, using surf gate and factory tanks full and 400 pounds of soft ballast bags added.i might have been going to fast?spoed was 11.7? I think to get a longer rope.the surf rope I bought is very short and makes you start out very close to the boat. I'm hoping I can do rope less this summer. Thanks again bill

I surf at 10.6-10.8 the axis tower sits pretty far forward so yes a longer surf road is nice.

Also more weight will help.. most are running 800 or more in each rear locker...

you can also surf from the pylon. That will effectively make your existing rope longer.
