I have a feeling someone will ask, so I will just lay out what I have had done...my dealer has been awesome at handling all these issues and working with me on them.

1. Trailer repainted and wheels upgraded to alloy (chrome was also rusted along with trailer)
2. Spider cracks in gel around lifting eyes
3. Tower paint touched up (rub spot from factory near tow point)
4. Entire side panel by throttle replaced - burn mark under throttle
5. Bilge door replaced, wouldn't latch to floor @ delivery, latch installed backwards on door.
6. Most vinyl replaced - stitching pulled way too tight
7. Rear ballast drained while surfing. All P-n-P lines rerouted and additional thru holes added
8. Radio installed crooked
9. Swim platform mat peeling up
10. Surfgate loose
11. Mooring cover had issues around tower - handled by cover manufacturer
12. Fulton jack replaced - rusty
13. Fuel leak from broken fitting on top of tank - replaced fitting.
14. Rudder box replaced
15. Axis decals bubbled, replaced with '15 decals
16. Swivel rack pin failed. Pin/spring replaced

That's a lot of issues with some of them being related to structure.. I would be asking for a full buyout by dealer and you pay the difference for a 2016... Don't take your chances keeping this one

Yeah right. Good luck with that one...

I have had as many and more warranty claims on my T22. Including replacing all the vinyl and a complete stripping and repainting of the trailer. It was rusty the day I took delivery!

Why did they replace interior? Another area I am not happy but it's not bad just saggy and stretched looking already.

Raimie I'm interested in hearing more about your trailer. Mine is rusty all over the place, too, including inside the frame where it would be impossible to strip and repaint. Did Axis/Malibu give you a hassle when you talked to them about it? My dealer keeps saying stuff like "some rust is normal" -- although the thing is brand new and I keep it inside a heated garage! I only got it about a month and a half ago. I think the problem is that the dealer got it from Axis last year and it sat outside on their lot all winter in the Seattle weather. Also I think the paint is just crappy; really thin and the rust is coming through at welds all over the place. Maybe they painted over a rusty trailer to begin with?

Is yours a boatmate or axis trailer?

Nevermind it is boatmate of it has been on the lot for a year. I worked directly with boatmate on my warranty stuff and bakes did the work but you can take it wherever you want to get fixed once they approve the repair. Some rust in my experience is normal on certain area..

I believe it's an axis/malibu trailer and not a boatmate. It's a 2016 A20 and I think the dealer got ahold of it in October and I bought it in March or April. It really sucks that everyone is saying it's normal to have some rust. My 2004 Sanger V210 trailer (which was a VM trailer) had no rust anywhere except where the spring leafs rub against eachother and even then it was very slight like rust-colored dust. The rest of the trailer had not a spot on it. Maybe it's normal if you leave your trailer outside all year but mine's parked in a heated, ventilated garage. It's rusty in parts that haven't been wet since I've owned it (all around the swing tongue for example, which doesn't get dunked when I launch/retrieve). Anyway, I think the spots are excessive and are signs of bad workmanship. It's rusting around welds and bunk mounts and all inside the trailer as well. Hopefully the dealer and/or Axis will step up and fix it somehow (although I don't know how they could possibly sand the inside of the tubes?).

It is not normal for the welds to be rusting. My boat came off the trailer from Tennessee with rust on some welds even staining the gator step directly under the bow roller. My dealer called malibu and they admitted that the painter they had was painting the trailers to thin and it was all covered under warranty to repaint and replace the pad.

Mine was boatmate. We noticed the rust right away. The day we took delivery. There were unpainted areas near the axle/frame joints. The dealer worked to just get boatmate to replace it, but they insisted on having a local shop re-do it. Seems crazy to me. The job was something like 3500, I would think boatmate could have sent a new one and repaired it themselves for less.

Malibu was hands off. It was all handled through boatmate.

Vinyl was replaced because the stitching was pulled so tight initially. A lot of thread was showing and the little holes were elongated right out of the gate.
