Surfing Speed question.

T22 larger ballast bags in rear filled, center and front all full. Just wife and myself on the boat.
Wife can surf fine at 10.6 but when I get out +70lbs heavier (215lbs) the wave does not seem to have enough push. At that point would more ballast help on passenger side (the side I surf on), or speeding up or slowing down help???
I was hoping for some pointers before we waste time experimenting with what little time we get out on the water together.
Any rule of thumb?

Could be speed. It also depends on water depth and board size your riding. I ride at 11mph with my Ronix Marshmallow 4'8 but when I ride my Doomswell Nubstep 4'6 I ride at 11.4. I also only weigh 150 soaking wet.

When I was first learning I would hold the rope and have the driver play with speed and usually you can feel the wake change and usually get a pretty good idea on what speed gives you the best feel. Also a little extra weight on surf side helps my boat a ton (just a few hundred lbs)

It's a T22, I am riding a Ronix Koal longboard. Water depth is a problem. We are limited to 11-14' depth.

My boat likes extra nose weight. We surf port side and if I only have a driver I fill a 750lb sack under the port side dash and it helps a lot. I'm 275 and can go ropeless on a crappy board. Lol

What size koal? a 5.0? or 5.6? At 215 the 5.0 might be a little small.

I slightly list my T22. I would add 350-500 lbs of water ballast to the port side and see if that helps. (I run mine under the seat) I also run a 350lb sack in the walkway when I am light on crew.

We surf at 11.4. First thing I would do is verify your speed is actual with a GPS. A buddy of mine just got a new A22 and we took it out, same setup as ours and had a hard time dialing it in. Found out his speedometer was almost 2mph off. We thought we were set at 11.4 but really we were 9.4mph. As soon as we bumped up, all was good.
