Surfing Speed question.

Thanks for the input, so do you guys think the water depth is not the issue? More the ballast? I have the SHORTER Koal Longboard 4'10" I think. Would larger one be better for me?
We surf in 11-14' depth. That's the deepest around my area of River.

With surfgate boats the only time we add extra weight we drop a sac in the walkway. That is about all we ever do. 750 in the rear and the nose full. you can try boat speed and a little more weight. Bring a few extra people out next time and have them sit in the center and a few big dudes stand in the walk way to see if that helps before you go buying another ballast bag.

I really would demo some different boards. that Koal longboard is thick but I think you just need a bigger board. I would suggest you try and borrow or demo a few larger size boards and ride the same wake. We would not have sold you a 4'10 longboard at 215. I would have suggested the larger one. So give the 4'10 to your wife and get you a new ride.

The current setup you have should work. I really feel it is more of a board issue.

Jason I have a phase 5 quest that my friends in the 200-230 lb range really like. It's to small for me but I can surf it just not fast enough for me but I'm closer to 290.

We have some Phase 5 at the shop. Not sure what sizes but the Aku has been popular with larger riders same with the Wire and model x. The inland Swallow would be good for you at that size. I think the red rocket might be a little big for you at 215.

It really depends on the type of wakesurf you like. Some Skim style guys like the center fin and a loose feel and others like more of a wakesurf style with two big side fins.

I really am more of a surf style and always like two big meaty fins on the outside of the board. when I was 215 I would ride the swallow from inland but I think if I were on an inland again I would look at the new air series because I like a surf style board.

We have a spot in one of our lakes that goes to 12 feet for a long stretch. Always lose the surf wave in that spot. Definitely need 20 feet or deeper if you can find it.

I personally think that depth is a big issue also. We have a few local lakes here and on the one that goes from 8-15' I never have as good of a wave as the one that's 20+ft everywhere. Like not even surfable really wave.
