Back in 2008 Boatmate's axle source, UFP, had a bunch of bad axles go out with bad torsion components. They knew the axle serial numbers and I ended up with a trailer with 2 of the bad axles. One axle failed at around 6 months the other around 10-12 months. They shipped me new axles both times (11 days one time, 14 days the second). Now here's the bad part. Both times my axles failed the torsion mechanism allow the tire to rub the fender while towing. Smoke went everywhere and had to pullover. The excessive heat from the tire rubbing the fender also burned the paint off the top of the fender each time. Fortunately I was only a mile or two from my boat storage each time. I jacked up the trailer and removed the fender each time just to get the wheel of both times on the side of the road to limp it back to my storage on 3 tires. The crappy part after getting my axles is that either I had to put them on myself (kind of a pain inside a boat storage unit in the Texas summer) or have a flatbed tow truck pickup my boat & trailer and tow it to a trailer shop ALL AT MY EXPENSE no reimbursement but they said my trailer was under warranty.
