I have a 2016 t23 with the 409 motor and just picked up the 2315. I still struggle to get on plane with full stock ballast, 650 under bow (not sure how much it actually fills though)plus 250 lead under bow bag, 250 lead in walkway and my rear bags more than half full, and no wedge. I ride in southern utah so my elevation is around 3000 maybe little less. Rpms are around 3600 when i do plane out with the bags half full in rear.

I'm low altitude but my rule of thumb is full front and center and three quarter full rears (front 650 bag and rear 1100s). I try to get on plane with the crew that I have then drop weight from the rears until I can do it in reasonable time. If I send passengers forward I can plane with rears 3/4 full but I don't need the wake that big anyway.

I think if I had it all to do over again, I'd get the 450. But who knows, then I'd just put more weight in and complain about it all the same.

That's what I did (went with 450).... but now kinda kicking myself to see that 409+stepped down (1.72) tranny are finally put together as the standard base motor across the line for 2017. LOL believe me, the 450 wasn't a cheap add to our T22 (but it does push what I want it to, so at least there's that). Would've rather spent half as much to go to the "base" 6.0 engine, but I wanted/need the stepped down tranny, so I went to the 450.

I'm curious what it takes to change the gear ratio in these?? Has anyone ever researched it? To be honest I'm not even sure what transmission my boat has in it (manufacturer)

never mind I see its a ZF... Does anyone know the model number used in the AXIS? I had a good friend that works for the ZF marine population division here in Seattle. Wonder if he could find out for us what parts are different between multiple ratios?

Thanks @skibum and @someyeahoo. Northern UT mtn lakes are a different beast than most of the country. The local knowledge is much appreciated.
