I am currently looking to buy a tow boat with the intent of using it for surf and wakeboarding and was happy with my demo on the Moomba Mondo. A friend of mine has since turned me into the Axis line and the local dealer has an 2016 A22 that looks amazing and the price seems right.

I am new to this forum and wanted to get your opinions in why I should be buying this Axis boat over the Moomba.

Thanks in advance for the info.

You are splitting hairs here. As far wake performance goes, Axis all the way. Comfort items the moomba wins. Personally I prefer the axis cause it has a great wake and wave. It is literally up to you. There is not a wrong choice in your situation.

I would also like to hear from long term Axis owners on how the boat holds up over a few years. Are there expenses other than routine maintenance, does the boat get rattles and squeaks, any chronic issues with them, etc.

Once again, thanks for any feedback you can offer.

Bought a 2015 A20 last year. After 75 hours, I have had some mechanical issues, and some interior trim break. There are some cheap finishes in my opinion for what felt like an expensive purchase $60k.

That being said we have had a blast with the boat!

I was dead set on a 14 Moomba Mojo before I started reading reviews and comparisons. Had financing worked out and everything. The more I read, the more I kept hearing about the quality of Axis's wake over Moomba ('14s and previous at least). Made a complete 180 and went with the A22. Great decision. Might not be as comfy but that's really not what I was concerned with.

If it's going to be a family runabout with not much wake time then you might go Moomba. Really about what you're gonna do with it.

I'm in the same boat (pun intended). About 65 hours on my 2015 A20 and it's been in the shop 6 times. Not to mention the things I've fixed myself. It's a few nagging issues along with poor initial delivery quality. I've read several forums where it is to be expected that they leave the remnants of build in the boat (screws, wires, pieces of fiberglass, etc)...however, that isn't my expectation for a "high quality" inboard.

That being said, mechanically the boat is fine...it's the other stuff. Currently, the depth finder is making erratic readings. I wish I had the 5 year warranty, but got in 1 year before that. I just feel like in the year and a half of ownership, there is always something that needs fixed or "tuned up".

Does this mean buy Moomba? I don't think so...maybe I just got a bad apple. However, I'd look around before going Axis again.

I've never been in a new Moomba. I ran a 2010 outback V a few years back but the new ones are totally different. I'm on my 2nd Axis 2011 A22 and 2016 T23 also a 15 BU 23 LSV. No major problems with any of the boats few things here and there is all. Malibu and Skiers Choice are both great companies with good products.

There was lots of trash in the bilge of my LSV upon delivery too (construction trash and tools). I think it may be a normal byproduct of the Malibu assembly line.

I have 70+ hrs on my T23... not a single problem or warranty item. While there are gremlins in boats occasionally, I believe you have to also consider how they are treated too when discussing 'issues'.

Sorry for posting a blank response... I'm a newby on the forum. I would shop around too next time. I'm looking to upgrade to a 22 foot boat within the next year and with my experience so far... I would consider something else.
