So is your steering improved with the cable replacement or do you possibly have some other issue causing steering difficulty?

Yes, it's back to "one finger" steering ability with zero friction. It had become a workout to turn the wheel. If your steering has become tight, you can disconnect the cable from the rudder arm to determine if it's the cable or the rudder box housing.

That makes sense and an easy way to isolate the issue. Mine is a '16 A20 with 70hrs and so far no steering issues.
