I'm running the 2249/450/1.72 tranny combo on our T22. It does real well so far. If the boat is weighted correctly (i.e. enough bow weight to counteract bow rise) it seems to be able to push whatever we throw at it. We mostly boat at about 4000' so if you are lower it would only be better.
How much weight are you running in the bow?
150 in lead + integrated bow sack will let us push the boat with wedge down, full factory, and 900s about half full. If we fill the 900s all the way, another triangle sack is needed on the seats.
IMHO that's probably more a function of a shorter boat (less boat in front of the drivetrain) than anything else. Doubt you'd need as much weight up front in a bigger boat (say, an A24) because the additional mass in front of the drivetrain will keep the bow down.
