4mph fluctuation doesn't sound right. A first time boat driver could do better than that manually. My paddle wheel holds speed with only a .2 to .4 mph variance whether it's surfing or wakeboarding

Two of my little guys ride pretty slow as well. We have a '13 A20 with paddlewheel cruise. Same thing happens to us from time to time. Found that if I kinda feather throttle a little softer it doesn't seem to surge as often. Post up if the dealer says something different. Mine said it was normal and I am newish to v-drives so I just took their word for it.

Remember that the cruise can only back off on throttle. This is way different than a car. It could be that you are givin ghtoo much throttle, allowing the system to give it too much gas and overshoot the speed, then it will need to fall back.Just leave the throttle a little higher than needed to hold speed, and I'll bet it is better.

Keep in mind that the system is able to hold speed with a full boat and lots of ballast. If your boat is very light, it will overshoot more than if it is heavy. Again, the solution for this issue is to not give so much throttle that it will accidentally overshoot the set speed.

I've had the same issue before, then I realized that I had the throttle in a position that was close to the cruise speed. I pushed the throttle to the floor and that fixed the problem.

Always pull my throttle all the way to the "floor"

I don't think that's true in these boats. They are fly-by-wire and the speed control is now done in the ECM, so it should be able to make any adjustments needed.

Then how can you cruise at 2mph going back to pick someone up?

We have paddle wheel only no zero off gps,
My 7 year old does not wakeboard very high speeds. I set cruise at 14.5 MPH and after cruise engaged the speed varied from 12.2 to 16 ish. Is this common or do I have a problem? If common does zero off preform better ( on lake ) and can you install or did it need to be bought when we ordered boat.

My A20 only has that problem at 15 when I'm skating when wife gets me up fast and runs the throttle like we're surfing and nearly goes WOT. It's a constant struggle not so often any more to get her to slowly or more slowly approach the set speed and we only get 1 surge and back down and it settles out. 1st time out skating this year she did it again but stopped on subsequent pulls
