This is what I came up with as I didn't like them sliding around on our 6hr road trips. PVC pipe and pipe pads from Lowe's, doubt I even spent $10 on it.

I'd also throw a bungee cord over the boards and put the hook into the end of a pipe to keep them tight from moving, no issues and I trailer with the cover off but my carpet or a towel under it.

I have boards in bags and wedge up behind wind block. Maybe it's too much weight for your Durango. I used to tow with a 06 tundra that was rated around 8-8500 and my 16 A24 is around 7-7500 full load. Now I have a ram 2500 diesel and have no sway or problems at all. Even when towing at 70-75. Remember you gotta add all the weight of people and gear inside the Durango too. Good luck. Be safe.
