Greetings. My front center tank thru hull ballast pump quit working. No noise, no breaker trip, nothing. Power is confirmed at the junction through the access hole. Issue is getting to the pump itself. Can’t be reached from the hole next to the seat. Has anyone experienced this and how did you correct it. Any input is welcomed. Thanks.

I just did mine. It sucks. What I did was unsnap the carpet and fold it lengthwise. Remove 6 phillips head screws and pull the center of the floor out. Lay the carpet on the fuel tank and then lay on the carpet. Use flash lightsand work your arms thru the gap between the fuel tank and the forward ballast pumps. Have someone to hand tools and rags and such. I used a small rechargeable drill with a socket to loosen and tighten the hose clamps. Make sure you get the 1,100 pump and not the 900, otherwise the hoses will not be the right size. It's a pain, but not terrible.

Thanks for the reply and info. Unfortunately for me that won’t work on my A20. No gap whatsoever in front of the gas tank and ballast equipment.

Oh no! No gap must mean that the fuel tank needs to come out for access. I considered doing this on my A22, and I think it might have been easier, except for the draining of the fuel at the start of the project.
Good luck.

Well, after checking, rechecking, use of industrial endoscope, and a few discreet pilot holes, I did it. The hole is cut and a new access hatch is in. As for the pump, took it out and gave it a spin. Started working but it’s noisy so it also is replaced. If I could figure out how to post pics(I can’t) I’d post pics. Appreciate your input!

I have wished for a different access hole for things like pulling the plug, which I cannot do from the terrible off-center hole that the factory gave me. I almost cut a new one when I did my ballast pump. But since I keep the boat 300 miles from home, there are always some tools and supplies that prevent me from adding complex tasks unless it is super important. I did not have a way to make a new hatch there, so I shrugged and gave up.
Also at Lake Havasu, the summer air in my garage is 110 degrees and the humidity is 6%. So I simply leave covers open and when I return a week later, the bilge is bone dry. Also we boat year-round and winterizing means we give up a weekend for annual service.
