I have my recently purchased vandell 2012 A20 335 indmar and i tried to complete the oil change last night and the dealer said there should be a plug in the boat i can pull to stick that hose through to drain the oil. Anyways, i couldnt find the drain that he was speaking about so i took the cap off that hose but no oil would drain out (i just had a pan in the side comparment waiting to catch whatever came out) i tried reaching for a valve or something but i couldnt feel one. When i called the dealership he said that in order to do it you need to have one of those suction pumps to syphon the oil out or you could be waiting for days haha. I lived 3 hrs from dealership and work so mcuh that i want to be able to do it myself. And the other boat service centers in my town are on a 6 week wait list even for a oil change. any help would be appreciated.
I have had people tell me they run their boat and the oil just runs out of the hose. That hasn't been my experience. I have a pump and I suck the oil out through the drain hose. It still takes about twenty minutes (after letting the boat run for about 15 min). I take the oil filter off and replace it with a napa gold 1069. I put oil back in the engine and run the boat again for a few minutes - check the oil and add oil as needed.
